PhD Thesis. This document describes work carried out at CalDet 
on the calibration of MINOS using the Light Injection system and 
cosmic ray muons. Also presented are results from a MC study 
investigating oscillation parameter measurement using only 
quasi-elastic nu_mu events from the NuMI beam. 

Also included are several general chapters on neutrino physics, 
previous experiments and a description of the NuMI-MINOS experiment.
