Experiment Log
25/10/18
- Set up apparatus as described in equipment list.
 - Beam experienced difficulties, delaying data collection.
 - Tracker operates on a 26MHz clock, and a trigger is sent whenever 2/3 silicon layers in tracker record events in a timestamp. Trigger tests were conducted with noise, hence a random rate in tests below.
 - Tested trigger output of Tracker into Oscilloscope: square wave of period ~15 ns with amplitude ~400 mV. Pulse example recorded on Oscilloscope disk in folder: SShaikh/Tracker Trigger
 - Placed signal splitter for trigger to send to both Digitiser and Oscilloscope. Amplitude reduced to ~50%. Pulse example recorded on Oscilloscope disk in folder: SShaikh/Tracker Trigger (Split)
 - Split trigger found to be too small for Digitiser (accepts trigger of order ~V), hence Digitiser set to self-trigger mode.
 - Aligned calorimeter to tracker, with centre of mylar window and tracker window aligned approximately by eye.
 - Performed beam test (had approx 30 mins beam time), details provided below.
 - Was found that the tracker was not completely set centre to the beam.
 - Error in data taking: Trigger trace was recorded instead of PMT trace.

- Tracker was realigned to be centred to the beam.
 - Using Tipp-Ex markers and lable stickers, window to scintillator was aligned more accurately to window of tracker.
 - Test of tracker/PMT synchronisation (check tracker trigger pulse/PMT pulse sync and numbers of events in files) with scope vertical scale 50mV/div. Window center corresponds to right edge vertical line intersecting upper edge horizontal line, looking at the window.
 - Test of tracker/PMT synchronisation with scope vertical scale 100mV/div, 2mm collimator centered.
 - Test of tracker/PMT synchronisation with lower current, 2mm collimator centered.
 - Degrade beam energy and measure response with 0.95mm, 2.01mm, 2.96mm, 3.95mm, 4.90mm, 5.70mm PMMA before calorimeter, 2mm collimator centered.
 - Offset 2mm collimator (by 6mm in +ve) and measure response with 5.70 mm PMMA absorber.
