Research Associate on MINOS+

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher to work on Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory's world-leading neutrino physics programme. The position would entail work on the MINOS+ experiment which is a new approved programme to run MINOS through 2016 in the NuMI/NOVA medium energy beam. The experiment will search for evidence for new physics using a long-baseline neutrino beam. The physics phenomena to which MINOS+ is sensitive include: neutrino oscillations; sterile neutrinos; non-standard interactions and even models with extra-dimensions. Another new programme being pursued at UCL is development for a large liquid argon detector to take data in the same beamline which is in the proposal stage. Identifying the neutrino mass hierarchy will be the goal of this project. UCL is also a collaborator on the LBNE project.

The position is available from 1st February 2012 for 2 years with the possibility of extension. Further details, and the information on how to apply are available here. Informal enquiries can be made to Dr. Ryan Nichol rjn @ hep.ucl.ac.uk or Prof. Jenny Thomas jthomas@hep.ucl.ac.uk
