Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Physics (Ref # 1225535)

The UCL high energy physics (HEP) is one of the larger groups in the country and consists of 14 academics and long-term fellows, with 18 research staff, 8 technical/computing staff and approximately 30 PhD students. The group is presently involved in a variety of experimental and theoretical projects representing our interests in QCD, electroweak symmetry breaking, the nature of the neutrino, physics beyond the present collider energy frontier and next generation colliders. The group presently has two academics (Prof. Robert Thorne, Dr. Frank Deppisch) specialising in particle phenomenology. The successful applicant would be expected to perform research on the phenomenology of QCD and electroweak physics with an emphasis on Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) and their implications and consequences for collider physics.

The post is funded by an STFC Grant, from October 2012, for 3 years in the first instance. The salary range will be £31,905 to £38,594 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The successful candidate will have or be about to receive a PhD in theoretical particle physics or particle astro-physics. He/She must have experience of working collaboratively in a research environment.
