Orientation	Why is the scientific problem of interest at all?
How	How is the research going to shed light on the given problem?. This project will involve characterisation of the optical and electrical properties of a new class of organic semiconductors with extremely low energy gap, and thus absorption and emission in the NIR range.
What	What is the specific thing that the student will do, and how does it fit inside the overall project? The student will learn how to prepare thin films of these materials on a variety of substrates and to incorporate them into LEDs and photovoltaic diodes, as well as to characterise their optical, electroluminescent and photovoltaic properties.
