Optical and X-ray imaging of
cell infusion into scaffolds |
Type |
Experimental |

Orientation |
Why is
the scientific problem of interest at all? . |
How |
How is
the research going to shed light on the given problem?. The
project goal is to determine the infusion pattern of cells in three
dimensions. |
What |
What is the specific
thing that the student will do, and how does it fit inside the overall
project? Fibroblast cells will be prepared by our technician, cultured in
the presence of an inorganic scaffold. The studentŐs role will be 3D imaging
by confocal microscopy and using a tube-based X-ray tomographic imaging
system. Data analysis will be
using the Avizo 3D image processing software, which the student will learn. |
Special Knowlegde |
Note:
this project is not based on UCL campus. The experiments will take place at Harwell (near Oxford)
requiring significant time spent travelling |
