Back to my MINOS
The initial observation of a possible near-far asymmetry came from Tricia who found a very odd event whose pattern of hits looked a lot different in the Near and Far. Investigating, I found a number of events where the energy difference of certain hits seemed very large between near and far...
With low statistics, there seems to be a discrepancy...
Removing the uncalibrated plane 0 improves things...
And with higher statistics, the asymmetry seems not to be real:
To make this plot I summed the total visible energy in SigCorr in each view and subtracted the Far total from the near in each event.
The spread is quite wide but every point is a comparison of green to clear. And most importantly, it's centred around 0 (once I removed plane 0)
I think this plot is more informative than number of hits in an event in each view since M16 vs M64 crosstalk production then becomes a contributing factor.
