Udpmon Bottleneck Link Results

Purpose

The purpose of this experiment is to quantify the udp capability of the mbng server machines in order to generate traffic (back ground and foreground) and to enable direct analysis of the Smartbits and Adtech testing modules for network WAN and LAN tests.

Assumptions

It is assumed that the servers are identical and hence results would be symmetric.

Results

The excel file of results can be found here. These tests are from mbng2 (on a 100mbit/sec) eth1 to eth1 on mbng3 (on a 10mbit/sec link).

Again, there is a huge spike in the sending rate which seems to happen for all udpmon transfer. The effect of this on loss is shown on the graph on the right. There is the loss associated with the peak, buy there are also two other regions where we get loss: for high (60-100) delay and medium sized packets (400-800) and for all intervals with packet sizes greater than about 1000.
