Minutes for UCL Proton Beam Therapy Group Meetings, 29th July

Present

Joe Bateman, Sonia Escribano, Raffaella Radogna (via teams), Harry Barnett, Simon Jolly

Raffaella Radogna

  • Need to verify FLASH condition and scanning with TIFPA ahead of beam time
  • First week of September assembling new fibre prototype in Bari - second week at UCL (?) to try and fit in QuARC enclosure
  • DAQ laptop needed for NI software for fibre acquisition (dual booted laptop needed) - will need network switch close by. Ox - so more short cables needed and a power supply with usb socket needed to be sat near the box
  • Three plug sockets (1 laptop , 1 fpga and 1 national instruments needed for fibres).
  • Currently 2 power supplies needed for QuARC (or 1 if Pete Hastings makes power distribution in time)
  • Away first 2 weeks of august.

Sonia Escribano

  • UCLH QuARC analysis
    • Analysis of side b of quarc detector
    • Looked at beam alignment - Prague issue not present
    • Good energy measurement of pristine Bragg peaks - better agreement as moving towards lower energies (i.e. < 1 MeV for 225 MeV)
    • Strange fitting for b side 150 meV
    • Between 95 and 85 mev faulty pd means QB curve is strange shape
    • Big shift at 80 mev between reconstructed and reference for some reason even though the pd isnt causing an issue
    • Add a fit to the sum of the photodiodes from each side
    • First few photodiodes of first board of side b seems to be very high but other photodiodes are in close agreement on both sides
    • Shoot through back on module one producing strange shape
  • Starting to test new rev f Oxford boards
    • 3rd board very noisy
    • All boards together and two that are separate
    • 6th board does not acquire measurements
    • P2b05 v noisy
    • P2b06 does not acquire measurements
    • 8 boards work and 4 don’t - successfully daisy chained 8 boards together
