'''JO''':
'''JO''':
* Attending HEP lectures: HEP Monday and Tuesday, CDT Thursday.
* Managed to run Geant4 photon tutorial by connecting from Windows/Mac laptops to plus1.
* Going through Geant4 simulations: cannot view graphics on Windows laptop...
* Cannot view or analyse results: issues with running ROOT over SSH.
* Laptop has been ordered by '''SJ''' and '''Tony Hoare'''.
* '''MH''' will assist with setting up relevant software environment on Mac.
* Met with '''Jamie McClelland''' and '''Adam Gibson''' on 18th October: have been provided with reading list.
* Going through reading list provided by '''Jamie McClelland''' and '''Adam Gibson'''.
* Will take Medical Physics/CDT courses next term: ''Numerical Optimisation'' and ''Inverse Problems''.

* '''To Do''':
** Try analysing Geant4 simulation results in Python.
** Install MacPorts and ROOT on Mac.
** Background reading!
** Try both local and remote data analysis.

'''MH''':
* Finished and submitted Literature Review.
* Pure Geant4 pCT simulation matches results from GATE.
* Contacted '''LeCroy''' again: still waiting for information.
* Reconstruction not quite working: resulting image does not represent actual object.
* Setting up equipment for '''Birmingham'''.
* Possibly to do with matching up pairs of protons from pre/post object: might be possible to assign individual proton ID.
* Issues with merging results from multiple simulations: cannot use more than 70,000 particles per simulation.

* Starting working on Geant4 simulations.
* Reading up on C++: '''SJ''' suggested getting started with the same tutorials as '''JO''' and '''MH'''.

* Geant4 simulation now multithreaded: using 4 cores doubles the speed of the simulation.
* Looking through data from [[Proton_Calorimetry/Experimental_Runs/2018/Oct25-6|Birmingham experimental runs]].
* Multithreaded simulations result in multiple data files:
* Results generally look good:
** Geant4 cannot merge them itself.
** Clear double peak for eyepatch data.
** Possible to merge manually.
** Some spectra show unexpected double peaks: '''SJ''' suggests PMT rate effects.
** '''RR''' suggests that merging should work automatically: will investigate.
