PhD project: WW final states with the ATLAS experiment

Supervisor: Prof. Mario Campanelli

Production of W boson pairs is one of the most important processes in the Standard Model, and is very important in the search for physics beyond the SM, both direct (search for resonances decaying into W pairs) and indirectly (measurement of the trilinear and quartic gauge couplings). The presence of the forward detectors for proton tagging will allow the use of important kinematical information and further improve the measurements of trilinear gauge couplings. This project will have an experimental part on the operation and calibration of forward detectors, as well as the main analysis subject on WW production in semileptonic , hadronic and leptonic final states.
