Event Display Changes

Some improvements to the old (ralwired97) applet. This was worthwhile because many people are still stuck with a JDK1.0 browser, which can't run the new applet.

• Fixed a bug which caused the applet to crash when run in Windows 95/NT Netscape 4.03 and above. I still don't understand why it was crashing or, for that matter, how my fix helps. Perhaps it's due to a bug in the Symantec JIT compiler (the crash did not occur if the JIT was disabled).
• Changed the zoom factors to match the ralwired98 presets. This required removing a hardcoded maximum zoom factor of 100. Instead this maximum can now be set with the view.maxscale property (0=no limit).

21st July 1998

First stable version of the ralwired98 (JDK1.1) applet and larger set of DELPHI events released. These were based closely on the display for the Particle Physics exhibits of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Open Days (26th June to 1st July).

As well as introductory pages outlining the physics involved and instructions on running WIRED for a variety of web browsers, each event contains a brief explanation, along with some details for experts. There is also a quiz, where one can try to identify events (this needs improvement - at the moment it uses the same events that were shown in the first section).
