Hi all, I'm off to learn VHDL for a few days, and will miss the planned phone hook-up on Thursday (apologies - I did warn Damon). I thought a rapid summary of where BOC is at would be useful. In essence: 1. 1. the control paths are going 2. 2. the control and data path functionality is just starting to be explored. In a bit more detail: 1) VME <> BOC-RIG - OK VME <> BOC-RIG <> BOC via SetUp Bus - OK Can load and read-back BOC control registers Can read BOC identifiers (module type, S/N, manufacturer, firmware version) Can load a read Variable Clock Control register Can control RX Threshold DACS (sample streams - not all 96 tested) Can control TX Laser current DACS (sample streams - not all 48 tested) Can control RX data delay chips (sample streams - not all 96 tested) BPM internal registers - control signals look OK - action not yet tested. 2) have populated BOC with 1 BPM, 1 VCSEL4 and 1 PIN12 just adding SLOG and OptIF modules to the test system to provide test signals for BOC Control and Data streams. assembling bits of software for these tests. Prognosis and predictions: Things are going suspiciously well. Will be back on the job on Monday 12th. I didn't foresee this level of progress, so I've given up on the prediction business. Maurice PS: I talked to Mitel today: Mitel Semiconductor is not effected by the sell off of the Business Communications division. They are still working on production details, and are unable to accept further orders at this stage. It may well 3 months before we can place such orders. So we will have to make the devices we have spread over the work we are supporting. M
