Post-manufacture FINISHING-OFF sequence to all production TIM-3E modules ======================================================================== ###################### #### FULL DRAFT ### ###################### MP-UCL, 27-07-2005 1) Remove washers from under all the 3x 4 M2.5 screws-heads ( on the 'solder' side of the PCB ), fastening the three stiffening bars 2) Replace all the 3x 4 screws fastening the three stiffening bars by a new screws with 'flatter' pan-head : - Use : M2.5 x 6mm, PAN head, slotted, s/steel, RS 526-928 and M2.5 x 12mm, PAN head, slotted, s/steel, RS 526-934 3) Remember to place nylon M2.5 washers between the central vertical stiffening bar and the PCB ( to insulate from top tracks ) - Use : M2.5 Nylon Washers, RS 528-160 4) Place M3 x 5mm spacers between the two horizontal stiffening bars and the PCB ( to aid cooling air flow ) - Use : M3 x 5mm HEX spacers, RS 222-367 5) Number the boards ( write Ser.nos. on TOP and BOTTOM ) 6) Attach the 'Rittal' handles ( #3688 770 on TOP, #3688 771 on BOTTOM ), and the 'Schroff' PCB bracket ( CENTRE ), to the front panel, using M2.5x6mm screws provided 7) Attach the front panel to PCB - Use : M2.5x 6mm, PAN head, slotted, s/steel, RS 526-928 8) Attach the extra stiffening bar across the J1,J2, J3 connectors. Remember to cover the top and bottom of this bar with Kapton insulating tape. - Use the pre-cut spacers, with the MACHINED FACE *UPWARD*. - Use : M2.5x 16mm, PAN head, slotted, screws, RS 130-606 9) Attach the dual 'combo' PL1 front panel connector to the PCB using M2.5 x 20mm screws ( RS 523-812 ) and M2.5 nuts. These screws then need to be cut-off flush with the connector housing 10) Mark with white paint ( Tippex ) the r/hand 'ON' side/edge of all four DIL switches SW7,8,9,10 11) Add all links as per "SETTING-UP" list 12) Hardwire SERIAL NUMBER by un-soldering relevant pull-down 0 Ohm resistors R90-97 below the U75 ( see Diag 07 ) : R97 = SERN(7) = MSB R90 = SERN(0) = LSB - All these resistors are soldered in by manufacturer, thus setting all bits SERN<0-7> = GND = 0 - Any bit which requires to be set HIGH = 1 needs to have resistor removed ( NOTE: Hexadecimal coding applies ) ( For TIM-3C modules this ranges from #26 to #49 in decimals only ) 13) Set VME Base Address switches : SW3 & SW6 = 0, SW4 = F, SW5 = D /cont: - 2 - 14) Use a cotton bud to lubricate all individual 'sockets' of the J21, J22, J23 daughter-board connectors on the 'component' side of the PCB with WD-40 ( or similar ) 15) Stick Kapton insulating tape over the J21, J22, J23 connectors pins, on the 'solder' side of the PCB 16) Stick a single continuous strip of the Kapton insulating tape all along back edge of the PCB on solder side, over the stiffening bar fixing screw-heads and over pins of J1,2,3. 17) Stick a single continuous strip of the Kapton insulating tape all along front edge of the PCB on solder side, behind the front panel, and over the front panel fixing screw-heads 18) If using TTCrq modules, insert the 7mm dual-line spacers into each of the J21, J22 ( 2x 25pins) and J23 ( 2x 13pins ) connectors - Use : 'E-tec' DIS-250-S009-01 spacers 19) Check for shorts between all power fuses FS1 - FS5 and to GND 20) Program the FPGA-1 & 2 This Version : MP - UCL, 27 Jul. 2005 Previous versions : 16 May 2005 05 May 2005 29 Apr. 2005 23 Mar. 2005 02 Mar. 2005 28 Feb. 2005 26 Feb. 2005
