Geant only has control from up to the end of the NRENs, and even then, only if they are fully compliant.

Dante already support the worst-case scenario which is when they only have any control over the core network.

To mitigate the "fat-pipe is not enough" effect, they are deploying path reservation, plus network performance monitoring.
The network monitoring allows them to check that the NRENs etc are compliant with any guarantees they've made.

Performance Enhancement Request Team: this gives advice to the end users/campuses
Consists of some full-time people effectively manning the phones (who are themselves fairly specialist), who have contact with other deep specialists if they cannot solve the problems themselves.

Fully expect that for the first 18 months, will concentrate on IP Premium, and MPLS will occur after.

The service Dante expect to provide is a guaranteed pipe between two endpoints.

GN2 is ok with having some box configuring their routers, but others may not be.
Therefore, there may be a human interface between the grid and the router, therefore something like a 2 day lead time.
