Udpmon Best Effort Results on unloaded router

Purpose

The purpose of this experiment is to quantify the udp capability of the mbng server machines in order to generate traffic (back ground and foreground) and to enable direct analysis of the Smartbits and Adtech testing modules for network WAN and LAN tests.

Assumptions

It is assumed that the servers are identical and hence results would be symmetric.

Results

The excel file of results can be found here.

These tests were performed from mbng 3 (10mbit) on eth1 to mbng2 (100mbit) on eth1. No QoS policy was set, and the router was set to a fifo queuing.

Again, there is a huge spike in the sending rate which seems to happen for all udpmon transfer. The effect of this on loss is shown on the graph on the right. There is a corresponding loss with the peak, however, the loss range is affected much beyond where there is a sending rate greater than 10mbit/sec.
