Minutes for UCL Proton Calorimetry Meetings, 3rd August

Present

Saad Shaikh, Simon Jolly, Unik Limbu

  • Compared shoot-through calibration data with fibre-injection crosstalk data: data sets show similar trends but are not close enough to substitute proton calibration with LED calibration.
    • Will fix a bug in calibration normalisation calculations (minor effect on fitting).
  • Matt Warren looking into USB104 problems: issue likely due to smaller FTDI FIFO buffer size on USB104 compared to Nexys Video.
  • Marko's Raspberry Pi now set up in D109 with Argon case.
    • Set up networking on desk so that Thunderbolt Display, Raspberry Pi and Windows PC all have wired network connections through single network switch.
  • Met with Charles-Antoine Collins-Fekete and presented QuARC detector.
    • Could go visit medical physics to see their detector.
  • Met with Colin Baker to discuss potential of working in UCLH as a technologist part-time for approx. 1 year during postdoc. Colin was enthusiastic but will need to check if money is available.
    • Giraffe measurements are possible – next monthly QA session is fairly soon.
    • Will provide Simon with thicknesses of clear sheet stack and white painted stack for UCLH Giraffe measurements.
  • Will test Rev. D boards.
  • Will determine sheet order and stack thicknesses for 2 14-sheet Rev. B prototypes for Clatterbridge.
    • Will make experiment pages for UCLH, Clatterbridge and Manchester.
  • Still need to measure mylar foil and investigate QSPI programming.
