My Background...

I studied Telecommunication Engineering in the Higher Technical School of Telecommunication Engineering at the "Catalonia Polytechnic University" (Barcelona). I took my Final Degree Project in Digital Processing within the area of "Array Processing and Communications" getting my degree in 1992.

I started then my professional career in the software development area. I was employed at different software companies and consultancies: Accenture, Insa and Adasoft, mainly writing code for banking applications and, later, real-time software products for industry.

Afterwards, in 1996, I joined the "Spanish Economic Ministry" in ICEX as ICT specialist, working during a period of three years in the Spanish Embassy, first in Moscow and, later in London. In this role I was quite involve, among other things, in the deployment of the network infrastructure. From that time I started my specialization on the networking technology arena, and especially in the IP solutions.

In London, I moved to TeleCity, company deploying network infrastructure for Internet, where I became Technologist. I was involved in different network projects like building the MAN connectivity in the London Docklands for the TeleCity sites. Also, using the same network solution, deploying a MAN between AMSIX/TeleCity sites in Amsterdam. Another interesting project was to build an Exchange/Multihome platform for TeleCity customers to peer with international network providers.

Later, I moved to Band-X where I was working in the "network-performance collection system". My role was to implement the collection system to gather all the Quality of Service (QoS) metrics in the network providers backbones. It was very software orientated job having to integrate new tools to pick up metrics like latency, throughput, packet loss, jitter, etc&ldots;

Currently I am working for UCL-HEP in the MB-NG and DataTAG European projects. The aim of these two projects is to probe end-to-end QoS mechanism like DiffServ/MPLS TE for a high throughput and performance networks.
