Where we are

UCL is located just south of Euston Road, close to Euston, Euston Square and Warren Street undergound stations.

The postal address is:

Department of Physics & Astronomy,
University College London,
Gower Street,
LONDON,
WC1E 6BT

The HEP group is housed in the main physics building (ref H2 on the campus map). Our group administrator is in room E15 on the ground floor but most of the group's offices are on the first floor.

The Hotel is situated in Bedford Way, (just of the bottom of ref L9 on the campus map or ref S14 on the area map).

A selection of useful maps are (including pdf versions of the ones mentioned above) available from the main UCL website.

Hand Baggage restrictions on UK flights

There are currently no special restrictions on flights into the UK from Europe, but you should be aware of the restrictions likely to still be in place for your return flight. A good summary can be found on this BBC news page.

You may also find that there is a queue of up to 45 minutes at security at the main UK airports.

Getting here

There are 5 airports serving London, none of which is very close to UCL. Instructions for getting here from each of them are given below.

From London Heathrow (LHR)

The simple option here is to take the Underground (Picadilly Line) all the way to Russel Square which is close to hotel. However, the journey time is ~1¼ hours.

An alternative is to take the Heathrow Express to Paddington and change on to the underground there. From Paddington you would get the Underground (Circle line) to Euston Square

From London Gatwick (LGW)

The simplest way from Gatwick is to take the Gatwick Express to Victoria, then take the Underground (Victoria line) to Euston.

From Luton (LTN)

Take the free shuttle bus from the airport to Luton Airport Parkway station, then take a train to either Kings Cross or St. Pancras.

It is usually quicker to buy a train ticket at the airport as there can be long queues at the ticket office whena bus unloads at the station.

From Stansted (STN)

Take the Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale and change on to the Underground (Victoria line) to Euston.

From London City (LCY)

Take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to Bank and change on to the Underground (Northern line) to Euston.
