AWARE Event Display

Station

The AWARE database contains data for the three full ARA stations. These are imaginatively called:

• ARA01 -- STATION1
• ARA02 -- STATION2
• ARA03 -- STATION3

Currently only ARA02 and ARA03 are actively acquiring data at the pole.

Layout

The AWARE event display has a number of predefined waveform views:

• 10x2 -- A 10x2 array of all 20 antennas per station
• 5x4 -- A 5x4 array of all 20 antennas per station, this is currently the default
• VPol Only -- A 4x2 array of the 8 vertically polarised antennas
• HPol Only -- A 4x2 array of the 8 horizontally polarised antennas

Waveform

The AWARE event display has two options for viewing waveforms:

• Waveform -- This is an oscilloscope-like voltage-time waveform, the units are mV-ns
• FFT -- This is a power spectrum computed using the Fast Fourier Transform algorithm, the units are dB/MHz-MHz

If you want to know more about how the power spectrum is normalised have a look at my guide to FFT Normalisation. What is plotted is the normalised power in each frequency bin (i.e. the dB per MHz), so one needs to integrate the area under the power curve to determine the power in the total power in a region. Finally the DB scale is referenced to 1 mV^2/ns
