UCL High Energy Physics Outreach

The UCL High Energy Physics Group is actively involved in a large range of outreach activities to help educate and inform the general public about the research that is carried out within the group.

  • The group is actively engaged in numerous media activities, including appearances on TV & Radio.
  • Several popular science books have been published by members of the group.
  • The group helps to run the annual UCL festival of astronomy, astrophysics and particle physics, Your Universe.
  • Each year the group runs the High Energy Physics Masterclass Series for year 12 students to show how high energy research is carried out, including a number of hands-on demonstrations.
  • Several members of the group have give public talks as part of the UCL Science Centre.
  • The Big Bang Fair was launched in 2009 and is the UK's biggest single celebration of science and engineering for young people and aims to celebrate and inspire them.
  • The HEP Group has its own Artist In Residence, Andy Charalambous.
  • Some members of the group have even tried their hand at Stand-Up Comedy, with predictably mixed results...
